Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the words "you're welcome" have been replaced by the words, "no problem." ?? Not that long ago, I noticed that after asking a store clerk, waitress, fast food clerk, etc a question or for an item and I'd received it, I'd say "thank you." In stead of the once heard, usual standard reply to these words of "you're welcome," I began hearing NO PROBLEM. Sometimes it was exaggerated and drawn out as if they were doing me a favor just doing their job... (try noticing what you hear next time). I'd begun to feel as though maybe I shouldn't have asked for a side of mayo, more water, extra napkins, my check so I can pay and leave, a to-go box, or just a simple 'thank you' at the end of the money exchange at In n Out, Taco Bell, Marv's Hamburgers or any other fine eatin' establishment. Maybe I'm witnessing the evolution of our language. After all, 'twenty-three-skidoo' is no longer around ~ (Waaaay before my time, which had something to do with getting out while the getting is good, time for me to leave.) Now days it's: See ya. Elvis has left the building. I'm outta heeeeeeeeere. at least I blogged again

Words no longer used?

Lots of words have "left the building" but I'd hate to see "please" and "thank you" disappear.
Please and thank you are staples around here. The Backyardagins even wrote a song about it..ask Cohen(:
I never noticed peoples reply before. Now I'm on the lookout to here No Problem!!
Okay I am guilty of saying "no problem" I will replace it with "you are welcome" :)
I don't think I have noticed this..."No problem"...I will have to notice this now...
"No problem" is used a lot; and I've noticed that good manners are often missing in our world. Guess we could all use a does of "Miss Manners" or Emily Post.
