We've all seen these words. They mean: "I came, I saw, I conquered." But, what's the Latin phrase for: "I stopped, I read and left without a comment"? Reasons for visiting a blog and not leaving a comment intrigue me. Various answers bounce around in my mind. Is it like a guest book at a wedding reception or funeral viewing? I guess I should be thankful that it doesn't keep me awake at night or have any effect on maintaining a, er, ah, hmmm, chain of thought. I'm thinking of calling a shrink. This question will slap me at the oddest times. Is there Blog Visit etiquette? I wonder if David Letterman had this thought, what he'd come up with as his top ten reasons for visiting without leaving a comment.1. too busy, in a hurry
2. subject matter too boring
3. not interested ~ don't bug me ~ don't make me get out of this chair!
4. too shy/too quiet to leave my thoughts in print
5. if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all
7. not in the mood/my karma moon phase is out of sync
8. I don't care what anyone thinks, I think, about that particular blog thought
9. I'm a better listener
10. not to be rude, but it's none of your business
I'm not being critical or want to sound like a whiner. I'm just curious. So given the fact that I wonder, I know others must wonder too. I know KM did. CS did. Did they get answers? My life's motto has been, "To each his own, just leave me alone." I know we're all different. I know women talk more than men, but does that mean they write more too? Thanks for visiting.
(PS a BIG thanks to Carol, my header has been updated with a new & improved look.)

I've taken a high road on the blog comment issue. I'm journaling for my own reasons and love comments, but will not allow the lack of responses to stop me from getting the thoughts out of my head.
Jason: Hi. My name is Jason.
Your blog's readers: Hello, Jason.Jason: I have a problem visiting blogs without always leaving a comment. I do it because I don't always have something to say right away about the original post. Some of them are amusing or interesting and I'm content with what's been said without adding to it. And then there are times when I have a thought about the post that I really want to share.
Yes comments are always fun to receive. I am trying to leave more comments on those blogs I visit, I am trying I am. Sometimes I just don't know what to say, but "Hi I was here" ??? :)
Hi. I was here.
okay - forget about it... :) (See first comment for rationale)
I try to comment most of the time, but sometimes I only have a few minutes and I peruse a blog and then have to go, when I come back they've already posted three or four more post and I forget about the original one!
I'm really good at reading without commenting. REALLY good.
My reasons (in no particular order):
1. I subscribe to way too many blogs to comment on each post that comes through my Reader
2. I have two needy children
3. Someone has already expressed what I'm thinking. If it's not going to ADD to the content, why bother?
4. I don't want to take the time to think of what to write. I'm a thinker. With not a lot of time to think.
5. Occasionally the subject matter doesn't apply and I have nothing to say. (doesn't mean I don't enjoy the read though)
Like Carol said, I think we should all continue to blog, realizing there are PLENTY of people out there enjoying what we're writing even if they're not doing a good job of letting us know as much. :)
I love receiving comments, and try to comment when I have the time! Even if it is short. SOmetimes I am not sure I have anything different to say than what was written, or the comments already made. Glad you blog though! I love to read it.
I'm glad you blog too!
