Newsflash: Government scrambles to avoid Cash for Clunkers Program suspension ~ Shortly after launching, the $1 billion Cash for Clunkers program may be almost spent out. Oh no! Administration weighs next step. This much seems certain about the Cash for Clunkers program: Consumers are happy to take government rebates to buy new cars. Of course they are; it's always good to get something for nothing from our government. (I can't recall the last time I got anything free from our government.) I'm glad that some of my tax money, that I had to pay extra every year since I retired, is going to such good use! I certainly wouldn't want a person on welfare driving their clunker cars on our roads, parking next to me in Walmart or using more gas than they should, hence spewing more emissions into the atmosphere. Confusion reigned Friday morning and the fate of the $1 billion trade-in program with concerns that it may have already burned through its funds less than a week. "It was unclear how much longer car buyers would be able to trade in clunkers after reports surfaced on Thursday night that the program would be suspended. On Friday, the Obama administration said it was working with Congress to try to get more money and that Clunkers deal certificates would be honored through the weekend." Personally, I am so relieved this administration is working so diligently on a matter of such high importance to us all. How would some folks drive themselves to the free doctor visits, or the store with their food stamps, using nothing but an Resident Alien Registration Card, God only knows where they learned to drive and if they can afford insurance, let alone obtain a valid driver's license. (I find so many guys out here just like this, it's pathetic!) But I'm not bothered by it all, not a bit....do I sound sincere? In quoting one we all knew and loved, "Don't get me started!!" Too late... We get to keep driving our '03 4Runner and '00 F150. (at least they are paid for)

What? It's all gone?

You could have borrowed my soapbox for this little rant, but I feel like I want to stand on it after hearing about this "clunker car" money!
